Mahad Organization

What We Do

About us

History of Mahad, inspired by the Mahad Satyagraha movement: Mahad was constituted in 2005 at District Harda. It worked informally in 1995 for social justice and peace.

In 2005, the Social Movement’s devoted core team of community organization, Ambedkar Vichar Manch, registered themselves under the Society Registration Act of 1976.

We believe that the most important historical event for social transformation in our country was the Mahad Water Satyagraha held in Mahad in the Raigad District of Maharashtra in 1927. This was the people’s movement against caste-based discrimination and untouchability under the leadership of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Mahad Satyagraha was a long-standing struggle for development with social dignity. We received significant inspiration from the town Mahad for social work to ensure sustainable development of the society.
